Organic black turtle beans have a mild, earthy flavour and creamy texture. They are rich in protein and fibre, making them suitable for a variety of dishes. In particular, tacos, burritos, and enchiladas, as well as soups and stews.
For classic creamy black turtle beans, rinse 500g of beans and simmer with one chopped onion, 3-4 smashed garlic cloves, a bay leaf and 6-8 cups of water or broth for 1.5-2 hours until tender. Flavors can be enhanced by adding spices such as paprika, cumin or chipotle paste.
